Student Engagement

Student involvement is an integral component of student retention. At Arizona State University, there are over a dozen student organizations that specifically cater to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) students. These organizations help to develop students on an educational and professional level while keeping them engaged in university programs and initiatives. The American Indian Council is the umbrella organization that works with all other American Indian student organizations collaborating as a coalition to strengthen the AI/AN student voice across all ASU campuses. These student organizations have helped raise awareness about AI/AN culture, communities and current issues that impact American Indian/Alaska Native communities. These organizations work together on university-wide events such as the Native American Heritage Month in November and the American Indian Culture Week in April.
