ASU’s Commitment to Tribal Nations and Communities

ASU has a long history of supporting tribal programs beginning with the Center for Indian Education in 1959. In 2015, President Crow issued a statement underscoring the University’s commitment to American Indian Tribes, including:

  • Advancing the success of American Indian students
  • Collaborating with tribal nations and communities
  • Integrating Indigenous knowledge across the Institution

The University continues to recognize its presence on the homelands of many tribes, including the Akimel O’odham and Pee Posh peoples. Additionally, ASU remains dedicated to fostering a supportive environment that enhances educational outcomes and community well-being.

A decade later, ASU's commitment to our American Indian communities remains resolute. We continue to foster educational excellence, cultural enrichment, and sovereign futures of our own design, shaping a legacy of respect, collaboration, and transformative opportunity for tribal advancement.
